Tonight, I headed out to Lyons to meet up with other MBA riders for the weekly group ride, not sure what it was, but it was only me and one other guy. We headed out around 6 on a 5 mile climb through some sandstone areas that eventually would lead to some dense forest cover. The beginning of the ride was the toughest. All climbing with no tree cover. I really miss East Coast riding and tree cover. We got to the top of the trail and decided to add on another 4 mile loop which lead to a dramatic overlook. It was incredible. You could see the Rocky Mountains in the near distance. We headed back on a fun downhill through the forest. The best thing about an evening ride is the cool breeze (no humidity here like the East). The downhill was a great payoff for all that climbing. I really have to get used to long climbs.
We got back to the car and starting talking. Come to find out, Dick, was 64! I really hope I will be riding when I'm that age.
14 mile ride. 1000 feet of climbing.
