I'm taking Leah on her first Colorado MTB ride tomorrow. It's a 3 mile loop that depending on how she does, we'll do a few laps. From what I have read, it is pretty easy. I'm sure she will kick ass. We'll report back with some photos when we get back!

Our new home!!
Well here we are. Our new home here is pretty sweet. Much, much better than our apartment in Bridgeport. No car alarms going off or booming systems waking us up.
The view from our home is incredible. We're extremely happy and comfortable here.
So, without further adeau...the photos (still decorating, be patient!)

Leah's first yoga experience in Boulder...
i went to my first class this morning at Om Time in Boulder. I was late for centering because I didn't realize that I would have to pay for parking.
it was probably the smallest class I've been to in a long time. I'm so used to practicing in a room with 40 plus people it seemed a little strange to have so much room...and a mirror in front of me. I've actually never seen myself in a pose before today...
the class was a little less challenging than I would have liked. and I was at times confused with the teachers use of sanskrit. She kept calling Urdhva Hastasana- Tadasana. And rather than the usual sun salutations we did this thing she kept calling Ganesh Namaskar. It's probably good for me to learn and try new things...though I do look forward to walking in to a class and just doing a good ole sun a or b for the first ten minutes of class...
We're off to see the new terminator movie...I'll be trying a different class at Om Time tomorrow and we might be stopping by the fat tire festival going on tomorrow.

Back from my first ride at Heil Ranch, CO
Well, it went better than I had thought it was going to! I posted on mountainbikereview.com for a "New rider to Boulder" and I got a response from a guy not too far away who was planning on riding this afternoon anyways. I met Chad at the trailhead at 3 and we headed off. A gradual climb led to open meadows with wildflowers. The trails were semi-rocky with some smooth section. We climbed for a while before we got to the tree line where you could see Long's Peak. Incredible.
From there we started the descent. Fast and rocky. My hands were hurting by the time I got back to the car from gripping the handlebars and brake levers.
The ride was about 2 hours long with 80% of it being climbing. But the downhill was well worth it. The Colorado terrain is way different than back home in the Northeast. I think I'm going to like it here. Just a bit :)
Here are some stats:
ELEVATIONS
Start: 5,893 ft
Top: 6,808 ft
TOTAL CLIMBING/DECENDING
1,628 ft
DISTANCE:
9.66 MILES
I'm looking forward to my next ride for sure!

My first Colorado MTB Ride
Yeah, you could say I am a little nervous. I've never ridden out West at any elevation gain. This should be interesting. I'll post a report when i get back later today if I'm not grasping for oxygen.

Today, Thursday.
Another beautiful day. Sunny and warm. The best thing is there is no humidity here.
Today was a good day. We had our furniture and mattress delivered. We were finally able to take a nap on a real mattress. We had been sleeping on the air mattress for almost 2 weeks!!
We hung around today and decorated a little. We also had to go back to Longmont to pick up our dining room table. We'll post photos soon.
Time for dinner. Lime chicken tacos!!

We're Here!
Ok, well, not really, we arrived Monday night. It was a great trip. The weather for the most part was good. We hit heavy rains in Kansas and some into Colorado.
We arrived at our new home around 6pm. We were tired and hungry. We emptied out the car and headed for Beau Jo's, a tasty pizzeria that serves gluten-free pizza, think Pizza Hut deep dish! Leah was in heaven and also got to try a GF beer!
After dinner, we headed over to Target to grab some things, $400 later we left the store.
We got back to the apartment and inflated the air mattress and hit the sack.
Tuesday was to be a busy day. First, Leah's car was dropped off right outside the apartment complex. The auto transport worked out perfectly. No issues whatsoever.
Second, our Amtrak shipment of 28 boxes arrived at the Denver Amtrak station. We rented a cargo van and headed to Denver, about a 25 minute drive. Picked up the boxes and headed to a furniture outlet center to look for furniture, Success. We ordered a mattress, a couch and some living room furniture to be delivered on Thursday. We headed back to Boulder with a packed van ready to unpack. The drive back up to Boulder is incredible. You just cannot escape the mountain views. It's amazing.
On Wednesday, we dropped off the van and headed north to Longmont, about 5 miles from home. We found a few flea market/antique malls up there online. We found some nice stuff including a dining room table and a sweet bench.
And so, here we are today, Thursday sitting on the couch writing this new entry. We're all set up for the most part. We have an adult bed, yeah I feel like a kid getting into it, but it sure is comfy.
In other news, Leah was awarded a Presidential Scholarship at BCMT!! I knew she would get it! She is a smarty pants.
Blanch and Mr. Naughty are doing well. Mr. Naughty was given a new hutch for his good behavior on the long road trip. He's a tough guy. Blanche is having fun at the new place. She sits on the bedroom window sill watching the squirrels in the tree.
Ok, enough blabbing for today. We are going to unwind and take it easy today.

Today is the day!!
Hopefully by 6pm tonight, we will be at our new home in Boulder, CO!! We're at our hotel in Hays, Kansas getting ready to hit the road and head for our final destination, Boulder. We also just got 2 important phone calls. Once was from Amtrak - Denver letting us know our shipped boxes had arrived (we shipped 800 lbs of stuff!) The second phone call was from the car transport company letting us know they will be dropping off Bridget Honda tomorrow morning! Everything is coming together perfectly!!
This trip has been memorable. I am so glad I was able to experience a cross-country drive with Leah. It's been long, but so worth it. We've seen the landscapes of Connecticut (not much to see), New York (we've lived here for most of our lives), Pennsylvania (more scenic as we traveled West), Ohio (long and flat), Indiana (small cities along the way), Illinois - May was a perfect time to travel in Illinois (the farmers were tilling the land), Missouri (lots of billboards!), and Kansas (rolling hills that lead to a flat landscape as we traveled West).

We have lots more photos to upload but have to check out of the hotel soon. Stay tuned for more photos from yesterday and today!

FInally in Kansas!!
Hey all. We just got to the hotel in Hays, Kansas. Nothing but farmland for miles. We did see a huge windfarm. Really cool. As Leah said, "Way cooler than a skyscraper". We are starving. We'll post up some photos later on tonight.
Boulder...here we come!!
Boulder...here we come!!
Good Morning, it's Sunday already!!
Good morning followers!! It's around 9:30 am CST. We had a good nights rest for the most part. Jamie did end up falling off the side of the bed into Mr. Naughty's cage. Yeah, I have no idea how, but I think I was in some kind of dream. No worries, no concussion, just some bruises.
And a few hours later, we woke up to the laptop falling on the floor because BLanche knocked it over. Never a dull moment!
We were able to get a late checkout at 1, so we're going to take it easy before we hit the rode again to Hays, Kansas, 378 miles!
Ok, signing off. We'll update later tonight!
