Things have been a bit hectic this week with company visiting so please excuse my lateness and combining sessions III and IV.
Session III was about the lateral lines of the body. This session was a bit painful for me because the lateral sides of my thighs are a bit nappy-- that is the muscles there are really tight. During this session I really noticed how much I hold in my legs-- especially in my right leg. This session also made me so acutely aware of my holding patterns-- that I was uncomfortable at the session. My hands wanted to make fists and hold on for dear life. I felt a collection of all the tension in my body sitting in my wrists and hands-- just sitting there. After a few hours the tension dissipated.
Session IV was about the medial lines of the body. The bulk of the work focused on the insides of the legs-- which is a sensitive area for me. I was a bit nervous. But after the session today I feel like I have two new legs supporting me. It's a bit like learning to walk again...and I am really blown away by the strength of my own two legs-- and their relationship to the front of my spine. I don't really use the front of my spine often-- and it's kind of strong so with my awareness there I hope I can get a better understanding of the movements associated with that strength.
I feel good. I chatted for a moment with another participant in the program-- we have to sit out in the waiting room in our sweet robes waiting for our practitioner to bring us into the treatment room. She asked me if I was suffering any wierd side effects from the rolfing. I told her that I definitely feel different and sometimes I don't really know how it feels-- because it's something I've never experienced. It's not bad-- it's just new. Everytime I come home from a session it takes me a few hours to get aquainted to my body's new positioning and sensations. I learn something new every session.
